September 3 – The Son is No Mere Angel

September 17 – The Consequences of Jesus’ Greatness
Scripture(s): Hebrews 2:1-4 with assorted other verses from Hebrews
Truth has consequences. There is no truth greater than the fact that Jesus is greater than all. So, what happens now that Jesus has revealed Himself to the world?
Scripture(s): Hebrews 2:5-18
When Jesus became human he was brought low. To him it was worth it.
October 1 – Called to Faithfulness
We have people in our lives who speak to us even though we are no longer around them. Do we let Moses do that?
Scripture(s): Hebrews 3:7-19
Therefore… because of the faithfulness of Jesus and Moses… Don’t get hard.
October 15 – Holding Fast Because of Others
Scripture(s): Hebrews 4:1-13
So, we can be motivated by the inspiration of others or the cost to ourselves. Can we be motivated by our love of others?
October 22 – Our Compassionate Savior
Scripture(s): Hebrews 4:14-5:10
Some people’s understanding of salvation is heavy with the consequences for sin. We emphasize those consequences because so many do not understand their need for a Savior. Yet, do we really understand why Jesus went to the trouble of dying for us? Do we know how He views us and our daily struggles to honestly love for Him? Do we know His compassion?
October 29 – The Deep Waters of Faith – Melchizedek and Jesus
Scripture(s): Heb 5:11-14; Heb 7:1-28
Studying “types” is not easy. It is important, yet difficult work. This mysterious Melchizedek shows us that we cannot be saved by our own merit.
November 5 – Playing instead of Believing
Scripture(s): Scripture(s): Hebrews 6
There is no more important faith rule than to take our relationship with Jesus seriously. If we don’t, we will discover real spiritual pain.
November 26 – The New Covenant – What is It?
Scripture(s): Hebrews 8
The gift of salvation is amazing because it brings together all those things which make gifts wonderful: person, cost, and perfection.
December 3 – The New Covenant: We Can Look to the Future!
Scripture(s): Hebrews 9
Sometimes we are helped understand things by pictures. Preachers use word pictures to capture our imaginations. What Jesus has done for us can be understood in pictures as well.
December 10 – Christ’s Sufficiency, Our Assurance
Scripture(s): Hebrews 10
All significant truths have significant consequences. Whether it is gravity or the sufficiency of Christ’s sacrifice, they all have consequences. Ignoring those consequences are when we have trouble.
