When Paul wrote to the church at Colossae he emphasized their need to depend fully on Jesus. They had to understand and embrace the implications of salvation by grace. When he wrote to Philemon, a leader in their church, Paul underlined that dependence by urging Philemon to forgive his runaway slave. It was Jesus’ way or no way. Is that us?
